SuperRes (SR) Hardware


The Polte Location API provides global location for a wide range of cellular-connected devices. To deliver the most accurate indoor and outdoor positioning, Polte has created Polte SuperRes (SR). Polte SR requires “Powered by Polte” devices from our ecosystem partners that include the Polte device CE firmware embedded, which enables devices to support the highest level of cellular location performance on the market. Polte SR currently supports LTE-M devices, and will support other categories of 4G and 5G devices, including Cat-1, in the near future.

To enable solutions leveraging Polte SR, solutions providers can proceed with any of the following options:

  • Use any existing “out-of-the-box” ready Powered by Polte (SR) devices or solutions listed below, which come with a variety of form factors and features depending on your use case.
  • Develop their own devices using any of the below Powered by Polte (SR) chipsets or modules, and validate them as Powered by Polte (SR) by entering the Polte SR Partner Program.
  • Chipset and module vendors: Contact Polte here if you’d like to inquire about enabling Polte SuperRes on your product, and thus enter the Polte SR Partner Program.

Chipsets


Sony’s Altair ALT1250

Sony’s Altair Cellular IoT chipset, ALT1250, is the most integrated dual mode LTE CAT-M & NB-IoT chipset with a 2G fallback. It supports 3GPP Releases 13 & 14, enabling a wide set of Cellular IoT features and outstanding performance, making it ready for the deployment of 5G networks. The ALT1250 integrates an LTE and 2G baseband processor, RF transceiver, memory, a GNSS, cellular base location engine, MCU subsystem, and hardware based integrated SIM (iSIM). Polte is an ideal solution for indoor location where GNSS is not available, or when an application requires heightened power efficiency. Sequans Monarch 2 (SQN3430)

Monarch 2 is the world’s most advanced LTE-M/NB-IoT chip. It features the industry’s lowest PSM (power saving mode) power consumption at 1 uA and a 60 percent improvement in power optimizations in eDRX and IDLE modes, making it essential for battery-powered IoT devices. Monarch 2 is 3GPP Release 14/15 compliant, supporting UE categories M1/NB1/NB2. It supports RF frequencies from 617-2200 MHz in a Single-SKU™ hardware design for global compatibility. Monarch 2 also features an EAL5+ secure enclave for iSIM and an integrated MCU with ultra- low power sensor hub to support customer application software. Learn more.

Modules


Murata Type 1SC

Type 1SC is a highly integrated, ultra-small, low current consumption LTE Cat M1/NB1 modem with optional integrated GNSS and integrated SIM (iSIM), ideally suited for small, battery operated IoT devices. This module measures just 11.1 x 11.4 x 1.5 mm (max) constructed in a silver resin shielded package and comprises an Altair ALT1250 transceiver with a FEM module, external flash memory and TCXO. Sequans Monarch 2 GM02S

The Monarch 2 GM02S module is the first module based on Sequans second-generation Monarch 2 chip.  It is designed for 5G massive IoT and features 23 dBm transmit power and a very high level of integration. Monarch 2 GM02S delivers the industry’s lowest power consumption and is the world’s only cellular IoT module with a certifiable EAL5+ secure enclave for integrated SIM (ieUICC) that is compliant with GSMA standards. It also supports a single rail power supply starting at 2.2 V, the lowest level in the industry, allowing for better efficiency of the internal power management unit, further reducing power consumption and lowering battery and BOM cost. TPM54x is a high-performance, multi-band dual mode LTE-M/NB-IoT module with extremely low power consumption in a compact form factor with optional integrated GNSS, integrated MCU and/or integrated SIM (iSIM) making it a perfect fit for a cost-sensitive, battery-operated applications such as smart metering, asset/fleet tracking, remote monitoring and more. CoreKinect Rugged

CoreKinect’s Rugged Tracker, a LTE-M/NB-IoT and Cat M1 connected device, comes in a lean, IP67 rated, rectangular design about the size of a candy bar. Ideal for logistics use cases, it can fit inside a pallet, package or other type of transport structure. This device has an estimated 4.5 year battery life and contains an accelerometer and a temperature sensor which aide in real-time visibility and intelligence to proactively signal inefficiencies. CoreKinect Slim

CoreKinect’s Slim Tracker, a LTE-M/NB-IoT and Cat M1 connected device, is about the size of a credit card but less than 0.4 inches thick! Fitting easily and inconspicuously in many general asset tracking use cases, the device comes IP67 rated and includes an accelerometer and a temperature sensor, helping deliver critical insights both indoors and outdoors. CoreRes (CR) Hardware


Do you have a device that doesn’t yet support Polte SR? Polte has recently debuted Polte CoreRes (CR), a solution for those customers transitioning to meet SR requirements and who would immediately like to achieve cellular accuracy greater than that of Cell ID’s.​

Any Mobile IoT device can become a Powered by Polte (CR) device through the use of standard AT commands and an API integration. CR currently supports NB-IoT, LTE-M, Cat-1+ profiles.​ ​
